What is IDOR?

The International Day of Radiology is an annual event held with the aim of building greater awareness of the value that radiology contributes to safe patient care and improving understanding of the vital role radiologists and radiological technologists play in the healthcare continuum. The focus for 2018 is on Cardiac Imaging.

Did you know…?

MEDICA now offers a specialist Cardiac CT reporting service. The service launched this year and offers cardiovascular reporting for CT coronary artery calcium scoring and angiography, CT for the assessment of structural heart disease and congenital heart disease assessment.

The Charities:

British Heart Foundation (BHF) – Targeting the world’s biggest killers

Research has given us machines that can restart hearts, the ability to fix arteries in tiny babies, devices to correct heartbeats, the power to give someone a heart they weren’t born with, and so much more. BHF have helped transform survival rates but heart and circulatory diseases still kill 1 in 4 people in the UK, they cause heartbreak on every street. And their work is urgent and vital as ever. Together, we can beat heartbreak forever.

Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) – working to reduce the frequency of sudden cardiac death in the young

Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Since its formation in 1995, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD. CRY promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research. CRY publishes and distributes medical information written by leading cardiologists for the general public. CRY funds specialist referral, screening and cardiac pathology services at leading UK hospitals.
